A 1930s fish camp cabin gets a second life, reprising its lovable characteristics — this time with modern updates built to last. Written by Kelly Ryan Kegans. Photography by Spacecrafting.

As much as the homeowners treasure summers at their Wisconsin cabin, they find something magical in autumn’s arrival in the Northwoods. Crisp temperatures cue the kaleidoscope of crimson, gold, and fiery orange foliage that hugs the shoreline, mirrored in the still waters of nearby Lake Owen, where locals set off for evening boat cruises after dinner. “It’s so beautiful in the fall,” the couple say of their remote spot. “We spend as much time as we can up there with our family outdoors—hiking trails, sitting around a bonfire, eating at the big picnic table. We’re outside all season until the snow starts to fall.”
